Victoria Falls, Hwange National Park & Mana Pools National Park

Hwange has one of Africa’s four viable wild dog populations and has reasonable numbers of the endangered brown hyena and the rare gemsbok. Mana Pools was saved from a hydro-electric scheme in the early eighties which would have seen the flooding of this subsequent World Heritage Site.
Victoria Falls
On arrival at Victoria Falls Airport we will be there to meet you off your flight, and make sure you’re comfortably checked into your hotel. This afternoon, we’ve planned a languid sundowner cruise on the Zambezi River, above the mighty Victoria Falls...and we promise that, icy G&T in hand, that setting sun is going to be as romantic as it’s spectacular.
Victoria Falls
It’s a must, this planned morning tour to Victoria Falls, one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, and more dramatic than you ever imagined it to be. The sight and sounds of the Falls and surrounds, is almost literally breathtaking.

We’re going to have fun this evening, when we dine at the boma at Victoria Falls Safari Lodge. It’s a full-colour African feast, not only the wonderful food, but the interactive cultural scenario. We have sangomas – witchdoctors – to tell your fortune, African performers to sing and dance; and drumming sessions to stir your blood and set free those inhibitions. Welcome to a real African extravaganza!
Victoria Falls to Hwange National Park
Rise and shine, we’re returning to Victoria Falls airport in time to board your light aircraft flight to Hwange National Park. This is Zimbabwe’s largest game reserve, with over 400 bird species. This afternoon, we explore this ecologically diverse section of Hwange National Park, a factor which guarantees a wide range and depth of animal activity, all year round.
Hwange National Park
Today you are encouraged to mix it up with the choice of game drives in open 4 x 4 vehicles, guided walks, or even, from your tented veranda, private time between you and whichever animals venture to the waterhole to drink – you get to choose the activities you would like to participate in today.
Hwange National Park
With Hwange National Park being so large and in case you missed out on an activity yesterday, or if an animal kept eluding you behind that bush, today you get to customise your gaming experiences again, be it the same as yesterday or something completely new and out of the blue.
Hwange National Park to Mana Pools
Today, we board a light aircraft for our flight from Hwange to Mana Pools National Park, in the heart of the Zambezi Valley. A hundred kilometres below Lake Kariba in the middle reaches of the Zambezi River, Mana Pools is legendary for its site, its game, its views and so much more. The banks of the Zambezi are shaded by a large grove of acacia and mahogany trees, and from there, you’ll have superb views of the mountains of Africa’s Great Rift Valley across the river in Zambia. Mana Pools has the country’s biggest concentration of hippo and crocodile, and large dry-season mammal populations of elephant and buffalo. It’s a unique environment, one you’ll find enthralling.
Mana Pools
Game activities vary, which means no two days are remotely the same. From early morning or sundowner game drives in open safari vehicles, to motorised pontoon boats or canoe trips, to walking safaris or quiet time spent in game or bird hides. This area teams with large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially in the winter when they congregate along the river. Predators such as lion, leopard and wild dog are all found in the area, and with luck, you’ll be privileged to find one or more during your stay. Birdlife is superb, with the river and seasonal pans attracting large numbers of water birds, as well as an excellent mix of species in the riverine vegetation and mopane woodlands. Bird watchers or not, you’ll fall in love with the calls, the colours and the creatures. Today you get to choose how you would like to see the wildlife.
Mana Pools
With so many different ways to view the wildlife and explore the area, today we let you choose your game viewing options. If there is anything you haven’t seen in the park, today is the opportunity to do so. With luck, you’ll spot that elephant or lion that has eluded you.
Mana Pools to Victoria Falls
This morning, we depart via light aircraft to Victoria Falls, for your onward journey.

Alternatively, consider extending your stay to enjoy a thrilling experience... traversing the Mana Pools National Park, along the Zambezi River, canoeing in comfortable, stable canoes passing more than a thousand hippo on the way! If it’s not on your wish list, it should be!
