The name Grootbos means ‘Big Forest’ and was derived from the dense milkwood thickets and indigenous flowering fynbos which clad the mountains in an ever-changing tapestry of brilliant colours and wildlife.
Cape Town was the Design Capital for 2014! This status is designated to cities dedicated to using design for social, cultural and economic development.

Cape Town
On arrival at Cape Town International Airport, we’ll make sure you’re transferred to your exclusive hotel, located in one of the most glamorous residential neighborhoods, namely Camps Bay in Cape Town. This is indisputably one of South Africa’s most sensational natural settings, and you’ll be pampered by wonderful hospitality, while reveling in the fine wines and exceptional cuisine.

Cocooned in privacy and immersed in POD's tranquil air, you'll be forgiven for thinking you're staying at a villa. Friendly staff caters to your every need and desire, also offering a beach service complete with sun loungers, umbrellas, and beach bats.
Frequented by celebrities and alive with culture, Camps Bay is one of the world's most desirable destinations.
Nestled between the foot of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean, Camps Bay is only 10 minutes away from the city centre, 15 minutes from the V&A Waterfront and 25 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. At POD you are right at the heart of it. Soak up the sun, feel the sand between your toes and settle into doing nothing very slowly.

Cape Town
Get under the skin of the City, by visiting some of the key attractions – get a bird’s-eye view by gliding up the side of Table Mountain in the cable car, and enjoying the 360 degree views from here to everywhere. On a clear day, you really can see forever. (Optional and for own account - weather dependant)

And, of course, you won’t want to miss out on a trip to legendary Robben Island, where South African – and, indeed, global - icon Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for all those years – it’s an enlightening and poignant visit.

Cape Town to Grootbos Private Nature Reserve
On Day Four, we head out towards Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, via Stoney Point. This is one of only two South African shore-based breeding colonies for the African Penguin, and you’ll get to watch the penguins playing in the ocean. It’s delightful.

Grootbos Private Nature Reserve is at the very heart of the Cape’s abundant sea, floral and wildlife landscape, and boasts some of the world’s most distinct and unique plant, bird and animal species. Grootbos offers a wonderful variety of activities for you to enjoy here, and you’ll be spoilt for choice: specialist guides lead 4x4 drives and nature walks through the fynbos and forests of the reserve, there’s a trip to the nearby coast to view the Southern Right Whales from land, you could walk along deserted beaches, visit the archaeological and cultural sites, embark on a boat-based whale watching trip, or hop on a boat tour to nearby Seal Island to view penguins, seals, dolphins and Great White sharks. You can be busy from dawn to dusk…or not. Up to you, but there are some wonderful opportunities to scratch below the surface of this Reserve.
